SANDPOINT — With an abundance of lakes and rivers all around in North Idaho, the importance of water safety becomes more important than ever for the safety of everyone.
Sandpoint Parks & Rec is teaming with the Sandpoint West Athletic Club to offer a new and important course on family/community water safety for ages 10 years-old and up on Friday, July 13 from noon to 2 p.m. at the City Beach Lifeguard Shack.
After completing this presentation, participants will be able to understand water incident statistics, recognize the importance of water safety training and swimming lessons, describe the circle of drowning prevention and survival, understand the elements of water competency, and explain steps to take to remain safe in, on and around water.
The free course is presented by highly experienced, certified water safety and lifeguarding instructors. The course is free and open to the general public, but a minimum of four registered participants are needed to run the course.
