Bulldogs and Cats get netted

COEUR d'ALENE — Kyle Eichelberger and Marki Grimsley won their mixed doubles, so did Derek Dirks and Lauren Galante to lead Coeur d'Alene past Sandpoint 9-3.

Eichelberger and Grimsley lost just two games, beating Patrick Orton and Emma Millar, 6-2, 6-0. Dirks and Galante beat Victoria Johnson and David Dye in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

"We're playing very well as a team right now," Viking boys coach Tony Cox said. "We have some big tests coming up. We have Lewis and Clark (today) in Spokane, which is usually a perennial power, and play three tough Montana schools on Saturday."

The Bulldogs were led by Del Armstrong who knocked off Coeur d'Alene's No. 1, Juan Marquez, in boys singles 6-3, 6-4. Senior Kelsey James earn a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Erica Dirks in the No. 1 girls singles match.

POST FALLS — Robbie Mueller and Shelsea Ekberg broke Clark Fork's service in the 13th game and finished off Thomas McMann and Tia Becker 8-6 in Thursday's pro-set to lead Post Falls to a nonleague victory.

Max and Sabastion Horton won their singles matches and Ashley Elowsky and Sarah Lovick won at doubles for the Trojans.

The Post Falls girls play today at Colville, Wash.
