| October 10, 2006 9:00 PM

Edwin Curtis Darty, 79, of Post Falls, Idaho, went home to be with his Lord Sunday, Oct. 08, 2006.

He was born Dec. 28, 1926 in Carbon Hill, Ala., to Earnly Curtis and Lera Zona Darty. Ed was the valedictorian of his high school graduating class.

After serving his country two years in the Army, he attended Auburn University in Alabama where he earned his doctorate in veterinary medicine.

Ed met Patricia Taylor at the university and they married on Dec. 28, 1954.

After a decade in private practice, he worked as a veterinarian for the USDA, primarily in the Northwest, where he and Pat moved with their family in 1964.

His most recent position was the port of entry veterinarian at Eastport, Idaho, from which he retired in 1994.

Ed and Pat had three daughters and two sons. Kathi and Terri were born in Russellville, Ala. Larry, Debi and Ron were born in New Orleans, La.

Ed was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors. Ed's primary passion, however, was his relationship with God. His daily walk was a living testimony of his love for his Lord Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Lucille Pietkiewicz, Juanita; brothers Mac, Harry Darty, Hosmer Darty; a daughter, Kathi Barnett; and a granddaughter, Jenny Young.

Ed was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Viewing will be held at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, on Friday, Oct. 13 from 5-8 p.m.
