Council needs to adopt ADA recommended width

I am voicing my strong recommendation to the City Council to approve a sidewalk with a 5-foot width versus a 4-foot width.

Per the ADA and the necessary safety requirements for meeting disabled individuals in using canes, walkers, wheelchairs, scooters, et.al devices , a 4-foot width will not allow safe passage. 

A 5-foot width would accommodate this need, therefore I urge you to agree on this width before safety problems occur.  I would also ask the cities risk insurance representatives to confirm this 5-foot width.
