POST FALLS — Dan Sommerfield fired a 77, his best round of the season, to lead Sandpoint to a 7th place finish out of 14 teams Tuesday at the Hawk Invitational at The Links Golf Club.

Colton Story shot an 86, Eli Brent a 91 and Chris Rhyne a 92 as Sandpoint continues to struggle with consistency in a season where viable practice time has been all but impossible to come by.

“What we need to do now is work hard before districts to get consistent with the other guys,” said head coach Mike Keough, looking for someone to step up behind his top two players.

Keough called Sommerfield’s five over par round “very good” considering the conditions on the course. The Bulldogs finished 15 strokes behind Moscow, the team they’ll need to catch to defend their district title.

Andy Hasenoehrl earned medalist honors with a 2-under-par 69 to lead Lewiston to a four-shot victory over Coeur d’Alene.
