We need to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas

| December 16, 2010 6:00 AM

Every year as Christmas approaches, we seem to get farther and farther away from the true meaning of Christmas. We see banners, newspaper headlines, television all proclaiming “happy holidays.” Is that all Christmas is to us?

Christmas is much more than that, however; it happens in the hearts of all people who stop to celebrate the magic of Christ’s entry into the world — regardless of the season.

The Christmas spirit of warmth, shines into our darkest issues and reminds us of our hope in Christ. Regardless of whether or not we see snow on the ground, pretty colored lights, presents around a decorated tree, we can celebrate Christmas.

Christmas is not just another holiday, as those who want to be “politically correct” project it as. Christmas is a remembrance of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. So, no matter what our current circumstances are, we can still celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
