HARRISON FLATS — Brandon Carmen ran for 164 yards and four touchdowns on five carries to lead Kootenai past Clark Fork 66-20 in a North Star League game that ended midway through three quarters via the 45-point mercy rule on Friday night.

Kootenai (3-3, 3-1) jumped out to a 24-0 lead after just three minutes of play on Carmen’s 1-yard plunge, followed by consecutive defensive touchdowns from Jake Zarpentine when he returned a 25-yard interception and  brought home a fumble from 45 yards.

“Those first three minutes set the tone,” Kootenai coach Doug Napierala said. “We got things rolling our way and kept chugging. We executed on offense and played hard on defense.”

Stillman Berkley threw for three touchdown passes to lead the Wampus Cats (1-3, 1-3 NSL), who scored 14 points in the second quarter. Sophomore receiver Zack Klein hauled in two of the touchdown receptions, with Axel Anderson catching the other.

Clark Fork hosts Wallace next Friday.
