CAL's grant helping keep families safe

| July 1, 2012 7:00 AM

Recently, Community Assistance League of Sandpoint awarded Priest River Ministries-Advocates for Women with a generous grant. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to CAL for the grant and helping us serve women whose lives have been plagued by domestic violence.

Priest River Ministries-Advocates for Women’s mission is to offer hope to women and children affected by family violence.

At any given time, our 17 volunteers serve 85 women and children in our programs, which include two domestic violence shelters (one for emergency, two-week stays, and the other for long-term care), a learning lab, child care, dance classes, life skills, parenting and grief release classes, and domestic violence and sexual assault support groups.

The women who enter our programs often stay for as long as three years, obtaining their GEDs and college degrees, finding employment, and becoming self-sufficient as they care for their children and heal from the abuse that plagued their lives.

Our website is prmafw.org, and we are on Facebook (facebook.com/prmadvocatesforwomen). Office hours are Monday-Friday between 1-5 p.m. Our phone number is (208) 448-2800, and we can be reached by our 24/7 crisis line at (208) 290-6529.

We are grateful to CAL for helping us in our mission to serve families and keep them safe.
