Couch leads Thunder boys

KOOTENAI — Zach Couch scored 12 points to lead three players in double figures, leading the Kootenai Thunder boys basketball team to a 56-48 road win over Genesis Prep Academy recently during Mountain Christian League action in Post Falls.

Joel Crosby and Jimmy Soderberg chipped in with 10 points each, T. J. Alsager added nine, Shayne Jensen five and Tommy Blair two in the win.

The Thunder then took on Immaculate Conception Academy at Kootenai Elementary School, falling 61-55 to the Spartans in nonleague action. Couch again led the team in scoring with 15 points, Jensen was right behind with 14 points, Alsager added 11, Curtis Roop 10, and Crosby five in a balanced scoring effort.

The Thunder boys then finished off a busy week with a 48-40 win over the Christian Center School Lions. Alsager led the way with 12 points, while Curtis Roop added 10, Crosby nine, Couch eight, Jensen four, Jason Roop three and Jimmy Soderberg two for the Thunder.

The Thunder girls basketball team took on Christian Center School, losing to the Lions 53-16. Scoring for the Thunder girls were Taryn Osman with seven points, Hali Aller and Tessa Murray with four points each and McKayla Montgomery with one point.
