SANDPOINT — Graduation requirements have changed for Clark Fork and Lake Pend Oreille High Schools, with less electives being required of the students.

Under the new requirements, all district students also will be required to take a civics exam before graduating.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Becky Meyer said Clark Fork recently changed their schedule to a six period day from a four period AB block schedule, meaning the students were taking eight classes and now they are taking six. This leaves less time for electives, Meyer said. They looked at other schools in the state and compared graduation requirements for a six period day, and implemented the minimum.
