I would like to thank all who participated in the first Christmas parade held in Clark Fork. You all were wonderful and it was such a blessing to have. That being said, for the first time since I moved here in 2005 I was embarrassed to say that I live in a small town that doesn’t participate in the Christmas celebration and that includes the businesses. Several people who said that they would join the parade didn’t show up and only a couple of businesses used the lights that were given them to light up their stores. Each one said they would use them and only two did. Really? Was that too hard?

I called the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office two months ago about directing traffic and they said they would help. It wasn’t until Friday, Dec. 9, that a deputy bothered to call and tell me they wouldn’t do it because it was at night. Why didn’t they tell me that back in October? The answer was that they didn’t realize that it gets dark around 4:30 p.m. and could I change the parade route. In Clark Fork, the streets aren’t wide enough for two cars to pass each other, let alone have a parade down them. I called the ISP and left my number with a message that we needed help for the traffic. No response. Pitiful.

Last, but not the least is the total lack of participation with the town folk. Where were any of you? We had around 30 people come, and that’s on the upside. But, I thank God they were there and we had fun singing and hugging each other. Get over yourselves Clark Fork.
