Friends to match library donations

| December 20, 2016 12:00 AM

Tis the season of giving, and the East Bonner County Library District hopes that community residents will think of the library and all that it brings to the community. As part of its annual Matching Donations Program, the Sandpoint Friends of the Library will match the first $4,000 in donations.

Did you know that any dollar donation made before Dec. 31, 2016, can be claimed on your 2016 tax returns? An individual taxpayer’s contribution to a public library is allowed as an itemized deduction on the federal return and on the Idaho state return. In addition, the taxpayer receives an Idaho tax credit for the contribution.

If you are a corporation this credit is also available to those who make a charitable contribution to a public library or library district located in Idaho.

Individuals and organizations also have a special opportunity this year to be recognized for their commitment to open access to information and ideas. Contributions toward Your Library Transformation, the Sandpoint Branch Library’s remodel and expansion project, may qualify for one of eight partnership level benefits. For more information visit www.ebonnerlibrary.org.

Any monetary donation made can be directed to Your Library Transformation or other designated projects.
