Stebbins finishes third at Best in the West tournament

PASCO — After going 3-2 during the duals portion of the Best in the West, the Bulldog wrestlers competed in the tournament portion the following day, with senior Owen Stebbins (182) the lone Bulldog to earn a podium spot with a third place finish among the 26 teams last week in Pasco.

All of the teams except for Sandpoint were from either Washington or Oregon, giving the Bulldogs a chance to get plenty of matches against a host of different and new teams.

Casey Oleson (106), Micah Holub (126), Scout Nash (138), Preston Bunty (152), Tekoa Mazzare (160) and Stebbins all notched multiple wins, both during the duals and the one-day tournament.

Sandpoint, now 5-2 in duals on the season, is off until heading south to face Coeur d’Alene on Wednesday, Jan. 4. The dual could mark a chance for Stebbins to face the top 182 pound wrestler in the state in former Bulldog teammate and practice partner Casey Randles.
