With all the false facts floating around about why we need the Scotchman Peaks designated as wilderness I would like to say, why do we need 14,000 acres when the majority of people — I did my own gallop poll, talked to 23 people who have hiked to Scotchman Peak in the last two years — say they go to the trailhead and hike to the peak and then back to their car. Out of the 23 people I have talked about going up only two have stated they went beyond to Scotchman 2. So why not make the 4,000 acres above timberline into wilderness and leave the rest alone so it can be managed for wildlife habitat, fire control, and timber management?

We have made it just fine all of these years so let’s not lose the option to manage the areas that are not used as wilderness.
