Synchronized swimming classes offered at SWAC

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint Parks and Rec. and the Sandpoint West Athletic Club are offering Synchronized Swimming classes for those who like dancing, gymnastics and swimming.

Synchro uses the grace of dance and the power of gymnastics to perform fun water skills like somersaults, walkovers, oysters, torpedo sculls and more. Goggles and nose plugs recommended.

Prerequisites are that participants must be age 8 years-old or older and have the ability to competently float, submerge in five feet of water, and swim 25 meters in both the front crawl and breaststroke.

Classes are held at Sandpoint West Athletic Club (1905 Pine St.) on Fridays, from 3:30 – 4:30 pm. starting on Jan. 5. Register for the Jan. 5 session by the Jan. 3 deadline. The class fee is $40/session ($5 in-city limit discount). There is a minimum of four and a maximum of 10 participants for this class, so register early on-line at www.sandpointidaho.gov/parksrecreation to guarantee your spot.

Monthly sessions begin the first Friday of the each month January through April. Registration deadlines are two days prior to the session start dates.
