From elementary school through my graduation from Sandpoint High School in 2011, the education I received in the Lake Pend Oreille School District was instrumental in preparing me to be successful in college and in the workplace. I am a product of the quality instruction, curriculum, and extracurricular activities that have been funded through supplemental levies. I can generally trace any successes that I have had academically and in the workplace back to the hard work and dedication of teachers working at every level in the LPOSD and to the activities and passions that they helped develop in me from an early age. “Extracurriculars” like sports, band, and academic decathlon are not “extras” but fundamental to a well-rounded education and help students (and future employees or business owners) work in teams, express themselves creatively, interview effectively to get a job, and be successful in competitive work environments.

I am very thankful to the voters who have supported the supplemental levies that funded the school system throughout my education here. Now as an adult voter, gainfully employed and returned to Bonner County, I will be happily voting yes for the replacement supplemental levy. I hope that the community will join me and continue to rally behind our teachers, staff, schools, and the kids they serve … and I hope every kid growing up in the LPOSD will have the same opportunities as I did. Please vote yes on March 14 for the replacement supplemental levy.
