SANDPOINT — Its commitment to giving back and being active in the community has earned Washington Trust Bank honors as the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce business of the month for May.

Washington Trust Bank has been family owned since 1902 with over 40 locations in Idaho, Washington and Oregon. They are the oldest and largest privately-held commercial bank in the Northwest and giving back to the community is part of their mission. Employees and bank officials believe that making connections and building community can only be achieved by being a part of helping to make the communities they live and work in great.

Washington Trust Bank contributes over $15,000 per year to various local causes and their employees are active members in the community involved in the Rotary Club, Sandpoint Urban Renewal Agency and Jacey’s Race, a fundraiser to help local families with children undergoing treatment for cancer and life-threatening illnesses.

Washington Trust Bank is a big supporter of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce and its events throughout the year. Washington Trust Bank employees are active chamber members, attending luncheons and sponsoring events like the Winter Carnival Parade of Lights.

“It’s great to have local businesses that are great community partners,” said Kate McAlister, president and CEO of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce.
