Archives, Ancestry working to digitize 27K Idaho records

| June 17, 2017 1:00 AM

Thousands of Idaho records are being made easily accessible for the public thanks to collaboration between the Idaho State Archives and Ancestry.

While the scanning process just started recently, the Idaho State Archives expects the project to be completed in the next six months. Birth records, death records, and prison records are all being scanned as part of the process. In the past those doing research had to dig through boxes of material to find what they were looking for, but once this scanning project is complete keyword search will be available for all of these records.

While the scanning project is just starting, the public can already see the benefits of this project. The public computers in the Idaho State Archives are now connected to AncestryInstitution, allowing visitors to explore some of the fantastic historical records already available through Ancestry.
