SANDPOINT — 7B Women, formerly a subcommittee of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, recently announced its independent status as a nonprofit organization. While the affiliation may have changed, the same great things that 7B Women have offered in the past remain, such as their monthly luncheons.

“Our luncheons are a great opportunity for people, including men, to come and learn about a specific topic, network with one another and learn more about our wonderful community,” said 7B Women vice president Patty Hutchens.

The June luncheon will take place on June 6 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tango Café. 7B Women’s featured speaker this month will be Wildwood Grilling’s Marketing Strategist Evan Rains.

“We are really looking forward to having Evan present on how to use the social media platform Instagram to help promote one’s business,” said 7B Women board member Alice Sloane of the ever growing popularity of social media as a marketing tool.

Rains, 24, is a sixth-generation Sandpoint resident and majored in graphic design and film at Viterbo University. Prior to returning to his hometown of Sandpoint, Rains worked as a wrangler on a dude ranch in Estes Park, Colo., guiding horses through Rocky Mountain National Park. He also worked for a time in Wiscon-sin, where he modeled for beer and wine companies. He currently works at Sandpoint’s Wildwood Grilling where he serves as marketing strategist for the rapidly growing company.

The luncheon is open to everyone in the community. The cost is $20 or $15 if you are a member of 7B Women, Inc. Membership is $35 per year and can be paid online at the group’s website, 7BWomen.com.

Please note that due to the high participation in the past and so Tango Café can adequately prepare for the luncheon, pre-registration is highly encouraged.

If people would like an opportunity to promote their business at the luncheon, they are asked to bring an item to raffle and will be given a “minute with the mic” during the course of the luncheon.

7B Women will also host its second Clothing Swap benefiting Priest River Ministries Advocates for Women on the evening of June 15 at Tango Cafe. You can learn more about how to participate in both at the luncheon and on the website.
