TREE SEEDING IN SUNDANCE AREA

Approximately 1,550 pounds of coniferous seeds will be sown on 2,000 acres of the higher elevations in the Sundance mountain burn area. They are primarily Douglas fir, grand fir and subalpine fir, with some cedar and spruce. Seeding will be confined to northeastern slopes, as seedlings do not thrive as readily on southern slopes which tend to get too dry. Planting will be done using an electrically powered cyclone mill carried by helicopter. Under good conditions, the entire area will be planted in about two days.

Nov. 19, 1917 — THIEVES GET SAVINGS

Some lowdown thief broke into the Washington school last night, opened the principal’s desk and stole about $11 in money, the subscription of the school’s children toward the Y.M.C.A. war fund.

Entrance was made by breaking a window and reaching the fastener on the upper sash. The teacher’s desk was entered with a key. The thief broke into the bookcase and took some books and also several Victrola records lying on a table.

Chief of Police Young had one of the pupils of the building on the carpet this morning but could get no incriminating evidence upon which to make an arrest.
