Idaho Trails Association seeking new members

| December 5, 2019 12:00 AM

Idaho is blessed with over 10,000 miles of non-motorized hiking trails on our public lands. These trails take hikers to some of the most beautiful parts of the state.

Unfortunately, funding for the care of trails is far short of what is needed to keep them open and usable. ITA is a non-profit organization formed to deal with this challenge and utilizes volunteers to invest in the upkeep of our trails.

By joining the association, members get to have fun, meet new people, and improve trails that everyone can all enjoy, said Tom Dabrowski, president of the association’s board of directors.

In addition, that work offers the chance to see and work in some of the most scenic parts of Idaho while making a real difference in protecting and enhancing trails, Dabrowski said.

ITA’s varied trail projects cater to all abilities. Jeff Halligan, ITA executive director, said that anyone can join ITA’s fun and energetic group by signing up at idahotrailsassociation.org. You can also check them out on Facebook at “Idaho Trails Association”

If you join ITA during December, each $25 you donate will get you one entry into ITA’s drawing for a coveted slot on the Spring Hells Canyon Wilderness project. This week-long trip will be held in early April 2020. Six lucky winners will start and end their trip with a scenic jet boat ride through Hells Canyon on the Snake River with a group of ITA crew leaders and board members. Food and fun provided.
