SANDPOINT — Things are picking up at Schweitzer Mountain Resorts thanks to a fresh blanket of snow and new snowfall in the forecast.

The resort is slated to open the Lakeview Triple today and Musical Chairs is scheduled to fire on Friday, which coincides with the resort’s Community Day.

Lift tickets are $10 on Community Day, which raises funds for Bonner Partners in Care and Community Cancer Services.

The event began 12 years ago with “A Day for Heather” and has grown to become a major fundraising push for both Community Cancer Services and Bonner Partners in Care Clinic.

“These two organizations do so much for our neighbors and friends who need assistance with basic medical care and support in their fight against cancer,” said Schweitzer Marketing Manager Dig Chrismer. “This is just a small way that we can help bring awareness and help others in our community.”

All ticket revenue going to both organizations.

“Although limited, our snowmaking has allowed us to open as planned and we are working hard to open more terrain and lifts as snowfall allows,” said Chrismer. “We are optimistic that the forecasted snow for Thursday will materialize and make it possible for us to expand operations for those participating in Community Day on Friday. We hope everyone, skiers and non-skiers alike, will help us to raise as much money as we can for these organizations.”
