SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Pullman’s Sehra Singh hit a 3-pointer with about six seconds left to put an end to Sandpoint girls basketball winning streak as the Bulldogs fell 36-33 to the Greyhounds on Saturday night at the Eagle Classic.

Sandpoint (7-5) was bound to lose at some point but the team had every opportunity down the stretch to win its sixth straight contest, but it wasn’t meant to be.

“We had a hard time,” head coach Will Love said. “Pullman did a good job defensively of clogging up the middle and we weren’t able to hit shots.”

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half as Pullman took a 19-18 advantage into the locker room.

The Bulldogs fell behind 32-27 after three quarters but they scratched their way back to tie the game at 33-33 late. Singh ended Sandpoint’s hopes of a comeback with a clutch three.

Love said the Bulldogs had a hard time converting shots around the basket and rebounded poorly throughout the game which gave Pullman extra possessions. He said the team will work on things to make sure those shots fall in the future.

“We’re not happy about losing but it definitely exposed some things that we need to work on and do a better job of in practice so that we’re ready in game situations,” Love said.

Senior Dawson Driggs and junior Kaylee Banks led the team scoring 7 points apiece and freshman Kelsey Cessna added 5.

Sandpoint will get some time off before returning to the court to face Lake City 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Les Rogers Court.
