The Hagadone News Network confirmed Thursday that an employee at the local WinCo Foods grocery store on the corner of Appleway and Ramsey has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a response to a request for comment, a spokesperson for WinCo said the company is taking measures to follow protocols outlined by both local and national public health departments.

“WinCo has had one positive COVID-19 test at our store in Coeur d’Alene, which we were just informed of today,” said Noah Fleisher, director of corporate communications for the Boise-based grocery chain. “The employee was last at work on June 26, 2020. Since then, all enhanced cleaning and hygiene protocols have been followed, and WinCo continues to follow all enhanced cleaning, hygiene, cloth face covering and social distancing protocols prescribed by our internal policies, as well as those recommended by the CDC and local health departments.”

The Hagadone News Network has also confirmed that additional employees and at least one employee’s family member are in the process of being tested at Kootenai Health’s Ironwood Place drive-thru.
