Clark Fork had a stressful start to their game Friday, down 16-11 to Noxon at the end of the first quarter, the Wampus Cats came back to take the lead at 39-23 in the second. They would go on to win 70-37.

“We couldn't get the first quarter under control,” head coach Heath Beason said. “We had seven turnovers in the first quarter and got into a lot of foul trouble.”

The Wampus Cats made the needed adjustments and carried them through the rest of the game, Beason said.

“Our goal was to put the pressure on and make them make a decision,” he added.

At halftime, Clark Fork was in the lead 39-23.

Ethan Howard got his first dunk in high school basketball, scored 16 points, had nine rebounds and blocked two shots. Beason wanted to give a special mention that it was also Howard’s birthday.

Chase San Roman also racked up 16 points, and led the team with seven steals and four boards.

“We controlled the boards and controlled the tempo,” Beason said.

Clark Fork plays Mullen at home next Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.
