Distinguished Young Women of Sandpoint held their annual "Be Your Best Self" workshop on Feb. 7.

BYBS is Distinguished Young Women's official outreach program. Participants are encouraged to “be healthy, be involved, be studious, be ambitious and be responsible,” and to reach out to the youth of the community to make a commitment to being their best selves.

The workshop was an afternoon of fun and education through interactive presentations of each of the five elements. Participants Maren Davidson, Riley Adam, Haleigh Knowles, Kyla Brown, Adeline Henney, Margaret Russell, Elly Pincher, Madison Coon, Casey Reid, Kennedy Denny, and Kenzie Wyman, along with our “Forget-Me-Nots” from the Class of 2022, Madison Gunter, participant; Adriana Foxx, second finalist; Amanda Steiner, first finalist; and current Distinguished Young Women of Sandpoint, Ali Terry, teamed up to share the BYBS message with young girls between the age of 6 and 9 who are fondly referred to as, “Little Misses.”

The girls then focused on one element, “being involved.” They worked together to create 75 Valentine’s Day cards to present to the residents at Luther Park Assisted Living in Sandpoint. Each individual handmade card was filled with love and the spirit of Valentine’s Day.

The girls worked up an appetite being so creative and wish to thank Rob Foxx and his entire staff at Safeway for providing sandwiches, soups, cookies, and water for all to enjoy. With the help of Tiffany Sparks, life enrichment director, and Christine Martin, life enrichment assistant, at Luther Park, the cards were safely delivered to Luther Park residents in time for Valentine’s Day.

Sparks made the rounds of passing out all the wonderful valentines to the residents around lunch time on Valentine’s Day.

“The residents were so amazed. We are so thankful to the Participants and Little Misses for taking the time to make our residents Valentine’s Day a little bit brighter.” Tiffany said. Distinguished Young Women of Sandpoint will be held March 5, 2022 at Sandpoint Middle School.

The theme “Make It Happen” will start at 6 p.m. with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are available now. Please reach out to one of the participants or email sandpoint@distinguishedyw.org to inquire about purchasing tickets. Advanced adult tickets are $12 each and student/child tickets are $10 each. All tickets at the door are $15.
