Community's generosity resulted in record-breaking year

| March 8, 2022 1:00 AM

Dear community,

The Sandpoint Lions Club would like to extend their deepest heart-felt thank you for such an amazing Toys for Tots year! With the help of everyone who donated their hard earned money, toys and valuable time, we are proud to have had a record breaking year!

The volunteers at the Sandpoint Lions Club were brought to tears on many occasions due to the extreme generosity of our community. Many of the people who won the raffle prizes and cash drawings donated them back to the Toys for Tots program. Others made donations in memory of lost loved ones. Businesses held auctions and fundraiser events. The diligent fundraising efforts of the Sandpoint High School students and staff are just a few of the examples of our generous community.

With the help from the Sandpoint High School and fundraising events, we broke the record for donations! In years past, we've asked the community to help us raise as least $50,000 in order to help cover the costs of this program. This year, our fantastic community raised more that $76,000! These funds were used to help over 700 children to have a special Christmas by providing toys, gift certificates and Christmas dinner for over 1,300 people. The Sandpoint Lions Club spent a total of $80,669 on the 2021 Toys for Tots event.

With your help, this program continues to be a special example of how caring our small town community can be. The Sandpoint Lions Club is actively seeking new members to help us do more programs like the Toys for Tots in our community. Please feel free to join our club meetings on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 6:00pm at 609 S. Ella St. in beautiful Sandpoint, Idaho.

Once again, thank you.
