Nov. 8, 1972 – ‘OUR TOWN’ ON STAGE

Mime and Masque, the Sandpoint High School Drama Club, will present the play “Our Town” for four performances on the SHS stage Wednesday through Saturday, directed by Miss Florine Dooley.

ANOTHER DOWNTOWN IMPROVEMENT

The Alpine Shop on Church St., operated by Terry Merwin and Bob Aavedal, has recently remodeled the shop’s face. The A-frame roof over the entrance is complemented with the Mansard treatment (curb roof) over the rest of the building front, similar to the treatment of buildings along Cedar street.

DOOR PRIZES PICKED BY MOTOR CO.

Jack Parker, Sandpoint Motor Co., announced the winners of the door prizes given away last weekend during the grand opening of his remodeled facility. The $100 cash prize went to Mrs. John Nolen, Sagle. Three daily prizes of two steak dinners were awarded to Mrs. Stewart Hampton, Noxon; Adrian Lane, Sandpoint; and Betty Bloxom, Sandpoint.

NELSON TV HAD THREE BUSY DAYS

Three radios were given away over the weekend as door prizes at Nelson TV & Appliance-Radio Shack Store. Owner John Nelson said the winner Thursday was Irene Neely, while Percy Bartlett won Friday’s gift and Chet Howell Sr. won Saturday.

Nov. 8, 1922 – CITY BREVITIES

W.E. Irons of Dell’s dock returned from a 10 days’ visit to his brother’s home at Hammett, Ida., where he met his mother, a Marshalltown, Iowa resident, who was also visiting. It was the first time he had seen her in years and he was pleased to find her in excellent health despite her age of 108 years.

The schedule at the Dover school was changed this week to conform to the noon meal hour at the A.C. White mill, which works on “daylight savings” hours and knocks off for lunch at 11 o’clock. The school begins at 8 o’clock now and lets out for noon at 11 o’clock, resumes at 12 o’clock and lets out for the day at 2:30. The change in school hours was made at the request of Dover people employed at the mill, whose children entered the Dover school.

NEWS FROM KOOTENAI

A new store adjoining the postoffice is nearly completed. The Bonner & Maughmer Trading company will occupy it.

Mr. and Mrs. S. Blair spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. A. E. Cherry.

The masquerade Saturday was quite a success. A large crowd attended and all had an enjoyable time.

PACK RIVER – SUNNYSIDE NEWS

The Northern Navigation company of Sandpoint is building a dry dock and workshop at Gravel point.

The children of the Oden and Sunnyside schools enjoyed Hallowe’en stunts at their schools Tuesday.

Harry Sisson is working in a McArthur logging camp.
