| April 8, 2023 1:00 AM

KENNEWICK – The Bulldogs lost their fourth straight game of the season to the Kamiakin Braves, 15-0 in a lopsided matchup at La Pierre Field on Thursday, April 6.

To be fair, the Bulldogs knew this would be one of their toughest matchups of the season. Kamiakin doubles Sandpoint’s student enrollment and their baseball team has finished high in the 3A/4A Mid-Columbia League standings the last two seasons. This was the first time these teams have met.

Kamiakin scored three runs in the first inning off Sandpoint's Kody MacDonald; it was MacDonald’s first appearance on the mound this season. Adam Leverich started off the second inning on the mound for the Bulldogs and the Braves quickly loaded the bases with no outs. Kamiakin’s Austin Murphy hit an RBI double to right field that cleared the bases to make the score 7-0, Braves.

In the third inning, the Braves tacked on eight more runs off of Sage Medeiros. Medeiros gave up six earned runs, six hits, and three walks in one inning of work. Kamiakin’s Tommy Lamb and Cade Carter had a double and triple, respectively, that scored two runs each in the inning. At the end of the third the score was 15-0; this would end up being the final score.

Kamiakin was able to produce 15 total hits in the contest. Every player in their starting lineup recorded a hit and six players had multiple hits on the day. Sandpoint’s Jack Zimmerman and Austin Dillon recorded the Bulldogs’ only two hits.

The Bulldogs will be back in action for their first conference doubleheader of the season at War Memorial Field versus Lake City on Tuesday, April 11.
