PREP TRACK & FIELD: Sandpoint girls take home team title from Christina Finney Relays
POST FALLS — Ivy Smith won in the shot put, Jetta Thaete in the javelin, as the Sandpoint girls won the Christina Finney Co-Ed Relays hosted by Post Falls High on Tuesday.
Sandpoint’s Ani Vick placed second in both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, setting a new personal best time in both events. In the 100 hurdles, Vick ran a time of 17.12 seconds. In the 300 hurdles, she dropped her time by over a full second, finishing in 48.62 seconds. Grace Rookey also came in clutch for the Bulldogs, running to a new personal best time of 2:24.35 in the 800 to place second.
For the boys, Klein Fragoso won the pole vault after clearing 14 feet to lead the boys to a second place team finish. In the 1600, Nathan Roche, Daniel Ricks, and Kasten Grimm went 1-2-3 to pick up some big points. In the 3200, Sandpoint’s Paul Kent finished first, Jack Lovin third for the Bulldogs; Lovin set a new personal best time of 10:38.18 in the event, a 16-second improvement from his previous best set this past Saturday. Isaac Schmit finished third in the 100 and 200, setting a new personal best of 11.66 seconds in the 100.
