PREP BASEBALL: Williams throws another gem, Sandpoint splits twinbill with Lakeland
RATHDRUM — In the first game, sophomore Dallen Williams pitched six scoreless innings for the Bulldogs to help bring home a 4-1 win as Sandpoint split a doubleheader against Lakeland on Thursday.
In Game 1, leading 1-0 heading into the third inning, Jesse Turner hit an RBI single to center to extend the Bulldogs’ lead to two runs. In the sixth and seventh, Sandpoint scored one run in each frame, getting a sacrifice fly from Lucas Hansen and an RBI single from Williams. Leading 4-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Sage Medeiros let up a run, but ultimately closed out the game and notched a save for Sandpoint.
Williams, who started the game on the mound for Sandpoint, received the win. Across his six scoreless innings, Williams gave up just one hit and three walks while striking out seven batters. Across 17 ⅔ innings this year, the right-hander now holds a 1.58 ERA.
