May 9, 1974 – TWO YOUTHS EXPELLED

In a special meeting last Thursday, school board members Vernon Ruen, Marian Ebbett and Jack Bopp voted unanimously to suspend for one year two youths who admitted calling in a bomb threat to the Junior High on April 23. They were apprehended within hours of the call by city police, who had the help of two eyewitnesses. Civil action against the youths is still pending, but Supt. of Schools Dr. E. Wayne Likens said no cost damages were assessed against the youths or their parents because, “on that particular threat,” classes were not canceled.

CFHS BIOLOGY CLASS MADE COAST TRIP

The Clark Fork High School Biology II class went on a trip to the Coast Apr. 20-23. Students on the trip were Randy Crawford, Gail Erickson, Sherry Franck, Janet Miller, Jim Raftery and Tracy Westfall, accompanied by their teacher, Victor McAllister. The first day, they drove to Vantage, where they stopped to view the petrified forest. After that, they drove to Seattle, where they caught the ferry and proceeded to Neah Bay. Along with the fun of the trip came the purpose of it, which meant getting up at 4 a.m. and going out to the straits to collect and observe organisms, which had to be collected when the tide was out. The next day began even earlier, going to Shi-Shi Beach for more collecting. The last day included finishing up their work of collecting on the straits and working their way towards home.
